Day 12: "Sleeper Cell"

For the next 21 days, I'm gonna get yall ready for "Amygdala" by telling little anecdotes about each track on the album, so you can learn about everything that went into each song. Yesterday, we did the deep, personal song "You'll Love Me When I'm Gone"- and today we're doing Track #12: a duet with the one and only legendary Long Beach rapper - The Narrator RBX: "Sleeper Cell".

"Sleeper Cell" (featuring The Narrator RBX) is a career highlight of mine and the track is super dope. I've received tons of positive messages about this song and it's unique musical production style as well as the depth of the lyrical concept. The premise of this song is simple: it's about 2 of the rap game's most slept-on cats who have been putting it down for the game for decades, yet seldom get the respect we deserve. For example, RBX is one of the original Death Row N'Matez, along with Daz, Kurupt, The Lady of Rage, Snoop, Nate Dogg and the rest of Dr. Dre's original roster - who, along with The D.O.C., made "The Chronic" happen. If not for RBX - "The Chronic" may have still been dope but it damn sure wouldn't have been the greatest album ever made in hip hop history the way it will forever be remembered as being. Yet, for some insane reason, RBX is seldom given all the credit he deserves for what he contributed to that project. The man wrote "Let Me Ride" and co-wrote/rapped on the album's dopest songs ("Lyrical Gangbang", "High Powered", "Stranded on Death Row", etc). In addition, RBX played an integral part of his cousin Snoop's "Doggystyle" album as well as releasing a bunch of his own projects soon thereafter too ("The RBX Files", "No Mercy, No Remorse", "The Shining", etc). And then when Dre broke off of Death Row to start Aftermath Entertainment - even before he found Eminem, RBX was one of the label's first signings. The Narrator has a truly one-of-a-kind voice and style and is one of the most slept-on, legendary artists to ever do it. In conjunction, many have called me the rap game's most slept-on artist in history - having entered the game in 1989 and subsequently releasing some of the dopest, most original, trendsetting albums of all time - from 1996's "Skitsofrenic" to 1999's "Posthumous" to 2006's "Amnesia" to 2018's "Amygdala" and tons of records in between. I've has been slept-on by most people in the game and not only put Stockton California on the map before anyone else did, on the levels I reached early in my career - taking my independent hustle global, but put out projects galore and broke ground with original styles that have been copied by many since the beginning. Together, me: The Sykadelik Relic and RBX: The Narrator made up this dynamic duo called The Sleeper Cell and this joint shows exactly why we'll remain 2 of the most unforgettable, legendary factors in rap history. And coming real soon, a couple more super dope collab joints - 1 for my next release and 1 for RBX's next release as well!
